Going to the Standardbred Games day at Langley Riders
Standardbred Games Day is on Aug 5th. And is for Standardbreds Only. We will be taking Cash. This is a whole day event to support Greener Pastures. The kids are welcome to come. All of us can share Cash. The games start at 10:00 although I plan on being ther for 9:00 so that means we leave at 8:00.
The classes are as follows:
Barrels: Clover leaf pattern around 3 barrels and run home (6)
Barrel Picking: 3 barrels in same pattern as above, rider is given small stuffed animal, rider must go to first barrel and drop stuffy on barrel and pick up new stuffy from barrel proceed to next barrel and repeat for each barrel and run home.(5)
Stakes Race: 2 vertical poles are set up in arena. Rider must go to furthest pole and figure 8 around both poles and run home.(4)
Water race: Rider must carry a cup full of water around pole or barrel and back without spilling more than the line marked on the cup. (3)
Keyhole: Large rope laid on the ground in the shape of an open ended keyhole. Rider must enter keyhole turn around and ride out and back to home without stepping on or over rope. (2)
Egg stomp: Egg will be placed in the center of arena. Rider must have the horse break the egg without dismounting. (1)
Depending on how many kids would like to go the classes will be split accordingly. We can practice the day before.
Price for this is paying in advance $30 = $25 entering and $5 for going and helping everyone get ready.
Paying when you arrive $40 = $35 for entering and $5 for going.
Show Clothes are not required, simply neat and clean barn clothes are fine. This is a fun day for kids not competitve although there are ribbons. Remember that most of the horses going are standardbreds and are not show horses. Most of them have the same level of training that Cash does.
In the case noone would like to go, I will be taking him myself as I have already comitted and lessons for that day will have to be rescheduled for the Saturday. Also, keep in mind this is the weekend before the DRC Trophy Show.
Pleas comment below if you have any questions…
