Just so everyone knows. This week and next are going to be very busy for me. As I am moving from Vancouver to Richmond. Some days I might not be able to answer my email right away so, please be patient I will return all emails. Also, as of April 1st I will be living in Richmond and will be at the barn every evening and for anyone interested, I will be able to do evening lessons and out rides as of May 1st.

Is bound to be a crazy one.

For a change we had a nice relaxing weekend, with only a few lessons. Cathy, Brittany and I were able to get a couple of good rides in at the sandpit. Cathy and I had a nice and relaxing time on Sunday by ourselves at the sandpit. It was just so nice out we couldn’t do anything but relax.

Vinnie, Fuzz and Gunner all got alot of exercise. And hopefully next weekend I will ahve time to squeeze Shawna into the mix as she also needs some work. As she will be going to the IPE this year , up in Armstrong.

Other news:

Gunner is for sale. We are looking for a really good home with someone who has alot of one on one time to spend with him. Unfortunately Gunner is just not quite the right horse for Mercedes at this time.

The Good news is Mercedes is looking for a new mount from 16 - 17hh ages 8 and up that has his basic walk trot canter and some small jumping in his background - but most importantly a level headed guy for Mercedes to be bale to ride right away.

Not sure if I mentioned this before but Fuzz and I will be going away on April 27-29th and there will be no lessons that weekend as we will be in Chilliwack at the Paint O Rama, everyone is welcome to come down and see us. But I will be unable to teach or train any of those days.

In the next couple of weeks, I will start planning a theory lesson for everyone to attend if they like - topic is yet to be figured out as I would like to have some input of things everyone would like learn…

Flashy will be arriving soon - as soon as Gunner is sold, she will be arriving which is exciting for everyone, she will also be up for lease come June 1st.

There is alot of news going on at Hylee Training. We have some new students interested in coming for lessons, we are heading to the Paint O Rama on April 28th and 29th… I have got to get Fuzz ready…

Also Gunner has now gotten over his puss pocket he has in his hoof and will be back working on Thursday - he is getting one more day off…

We have a new working student coming to help me on Saturday… and her name is Brittany she will be there on Sunday and Saturdays…

I am moving closer to the barn in April so, it will be easier for me to get there…

And we have alot of horses is training now:

Including Vinnie, Gunner, Fuzz and Shawna and I am going to have to ride each a few days per week to have everyone ready…

Gunner has been comming along very well. Currently he needs a little work on his muscle tone especially along his back as well as some manners. He is now stretching his head down during lunging and while walking. Next week I will up the ante and start doing lunging for 20 mins, walk 20 minutes and 20 minutes trotting.

Yesterday he pulled a show but Saturday Dan our trusty farrier will be coming to fix that and Saturday evening he can go back to work.

Today I had to cancel all lessons due to the fact that our ring was a swamp. I have never seen it so bad. I guess it should have been expected considering there was flooding reports from all over the Lower Mainland. Hopefully all lessons will be back on schedule for next Saturday.

*Please note, there will be no lessons until 3:00 on Sunday. Saturday lessons will stay the same.

All students are expected to have their horses brushed 10 minutes before lesson begins. And then if they need help tacking up, I can be there to help them. Lessons will begin at the time booked and if your late, your late. Unfortunately I can no longer run over the scheduled time.

Other news is we have a new horse at our barn, named Gunner. He arrved today. I am sure all the kids will love him. He is with us for a couple of months for training. You can check back here for updates on his daily training.

Well, like I said it never rains at the barn. Well.. barely ever. At Hylee Training we had a nice weekend full of sunshine and riding.

Lessons went great everyone did well. We might have had a couple bumps along the way. But in the end everything worked out. And I am very proud of all my students for perservering even though it wasn’t always fun.

We are now free of boarders and there is less traffic at the barn - which is great and definetly creates a more relaxing atmosphere and that is what we are aiming for.

Currently we have one spot open for training for March and April. Remember Flashy is arriving May 1st!!! Got to make room for her…

We also have two spots open for students. Unfortunately there are no Saturday afternoon lessons available. We do have Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon open…

Flashy is the latest member of our team and will be another lesson pony. She is 14.1 or 14.2 and a reg Paint Mare. She is 10 years old. She recently had a foal. Frosty ( which I helped name!) and as soon as he is weaned, she will be arriving at our barn.

We are planning on her arriving anywhere between the first to the end of April. Flashy will then need a little refresher course before she is brought into our lesson program. After that she will also be available for lease at our regular rates.
