December 29th - Cassia

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

Well,  I thought I would stick with my plan of riding rain or shine. And today - I rode in the rain. Cassia behaved well, considering she hasn’t been ridden in a while. I took some more pics of her because she is for sale. I have attached a few: See Below

Long week!

Monday, December 25th, 2006

This must have been the longest week of my life! Finally things have calmed down. And this week I was able to work with everyone - Hooray for me.

Today Vinnie and I traveled to Blue Moon Stables and used their indoor for training. And it was excellent. We trotted forever. Next time we get a chance we will be working on more circles and our walk trot transitions. And at home we will be working on our canter on the lunge line. as Vinnie seems to have a little trouble in smaller circles at the canter.

Fuzz is up next for tommorow!

Dec 17, 18 Vinnie Cassia Fuzz

Monday, December 18th, 2006

This weekend everyone got worked. Vinnie was lunged today and will be ridden tommorow. And Cassia was ridden and was pretty good on Sunday. Fuzz was lunged and will be ridden tommorow.

Fuzz was full of piss and vinegar and definelty needed to get out. After being lunged on Sunday, she is a totally different horse. Cassia needs some work on being herd bound, which I found was kindof strange as when she is trailered in somewhere she has no problems.

Either way, I have decided I am going to have to ride in the rain! Because the weather is not co-operating with me lately.

December 15th - Rain

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

Well I am sure you all know, the weather sucks lately. And unfortunately I haven’t been able to ride anyone and it was very frustrating. But hopefully soon, the weather will finally change.

The good news is.. I have published the first article to Hylee Training. What to do when your horse rears. View it here

December 13th, 2006 Vinnie and Cassia

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Yesterday I was about to work both Cassia and  Vinnie, which was nice. Today it was raining. Hopefully tommorow I will have a chance to work Fuzz and Vinnie.

Vinnie is coming along well. He was lunged for about 20 minutes before I rode him and once he got all the piss and vinegar out of him, he was an excellent horse. I was only actually on him for about 10 mins but he did not buck or rear so he was rewarded by not having to do anymore work.

Cassia is slowly being brought back to work, as you remember she went lame from kicking the wall! She really need to get in shape and we will be working on this over Christmas. As you can tell I have my hands full with lots of horses to work every day.

Keep you updated!

Vinnie Dec 10th

Monday, December 11th, 2006

It seems like Vinnie is the only only getting ridden. Today I had a chance to hop on him for about 20 minutes, we didn’t do too much as I am realy just tryng to instill the idea that we are not racing and there is no reason for us to go really fast. I also want to get the basics down. Such as you do good and you get rewarded. And the whole whoa thing down. Things went well, we only had a couple of hissy fits during the 20 minutes.

And tommorow I plan on lungeing for 20 then riding for 20 hopefully getting a couple of good strides of trot in. I would really like to be able to trot before I haul in to another place.

Fuzz didn’t get ridden today, and I am hoping I wil get a chnace to get on her tommorow and give her a good work out. Depending on the weather of course, but our ring is starting t look better.

Vinnie - Oh Vinnie - December 7th

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Ok so it has been a few days since I have posted. I don’t have anyone in training anymore so, no owners to post for. If I had anyone in training I would be run ragged. I also don’t have any room for anymore horses although there are a couple more I have my eye on.

As far as Vinnie goes, he is settling in quite nicely.  The first day, he was acting like a 3 yrd old Stud but today I think he felt more at home. Yesterday I did get on, only because I am crazy. And I will get on anything. Wasn’t such a good ride but my saddle didn’t really fit me on him that well. So it was interesting, I was only walking him for about 10 mins in the round pen and we ended it well. So basically he is broke to get on and that is it. His lungeing also needs a little work. But that is ok we are going to work on it.

Today, we lunged a got to work up a little sweat, so I am planning on slowly bringing back starting with lungeing for about 20 minutes, which is what I did today and then I will start getting on. I picked up a nice little used saddle at Roddicks. I think this is the 3rd saddle I have bought from there, that fits me on him a little better and then he can have his own saddle also picked him up a new bridle as the ones I have are a little too big.

Tommorow depending on weather, I will be lungeing and then jumping on for aout 10 minutes just at the walk to get him used to the ring.

Also, if it is raining I will be heading over to Crescent Stables as they have allowed me to trailer in to exercise my horses. Finally I found a place to exercise with a indoor. Thank God for small favors.!

Also I have decide to put my wonderful mount up for sale. I would really like to see her go to a school horse home. More details on that tommorow. For now off to bed.

Dec 3rd - Winger

Tuesday, December 5th, 2006

Well Winger is now back in Langley for the winter, he will be back in the spring to further his training.

Vinnie our new edition, will be arriving tommorow night. And hopefully. On Wednesday, we can get back to work as noone has been getting worked because of the snow.
