Gave both my girl’s the day off today which was probably not a good idea as it was not raining today and it probably will tommorow, when I go to ride.

I worked with Winger today lungeing with side reins. He is starting to become more forward in the round pen and not breaking as much as before. He is also starting to bend a little. I really need this forward motion before I can go ahead with jumping. He also neds to get in better shape so he can carry himself and a rider over a course.

I am still looking for a place to haul into with a cross country course!

Well finally it wasn’t raining, the horses got some time on the field to kick their heels up and have a good run.

Today I got a chance to work with Winger in the round pen and we worked on lunging without the lungeline and our voice comands and how to go forward. I am finding he really doesn’t like to go forward. So that kindof sets our training back some. I orginally thought that he was very good with walk trot canter, but apparently he was being worked 5 days/week at that time. So, I don’t feel so guilty now not working in saddle. For the next couple of training sessions, we will be working the round pen and working on getting him in shape and getting him under himself.

Cassia was wonderful as usual. I totally appreciate my push button horse after riding Winger. Winger is a workout where Cassia is not as much, she works herself more than anything. Cassia and I went for a mini trail ride to get her comfortable leaving home and then coming back.

Tommorow is Winger and Fuzz.

I have taken to the last two days off as I have been extremely exhausted. I plan on resuming training on Wednesday as it is supposed to be nice out.

Finally no rain in the morning! I got to ride both Winger and Fuzz. And both did very well and got a really good work out.

Winger started off rough again but became more smooth quicker than the last in the saddle session. I found today that Winger needs to balance himself. He is unbalanced with a rider even on a loose rein and I eblie this may be the basis of other problems. With some lungeing and just more miles and alittle more weight, I think everything will work out and he will be in better shape very quickly.

Fuzz was a fantasic girl today. I was extremely proud of her. She stop well, despit the fact I ahve written her in like a week and she remembered everythign from our previous lessons. We tested the spins a little but didn’t work hard at it as everything was wet. 

I also signed Fuzz and I up for Cow Play at Twin Creek Ranch on November 20th. It should be loads of fun!  And I will let you all know how it goes!

Well it totally downpoured all day and gave me no time to ride, unfortunately. When the rain actually subsided I ventured out with Winger to do a mini lunge lesson. I believe I mentioned before that he didn’t really lunge.

Well what we did today was hold him with a lead rope and a dressage whip at his should while on the ground and tap the whip on his shoulder until it began annoying. It took for ever I must say and with a little more pressure from my thub he got the hint and step his body over. Once his body has stepped over, I stopped taping and rewarded him. We did this on both sides and after that I oushed him out a little and asked him to go like lungeing but a really small circle. He started to get the idea and we having him reacting to the cues I praised him and we finished our lesson.

So, all in all it was great and despite the rain we managed to get Winger out and some training done.

The rain did stop for a little while and allowed me to get two rides in. Today I rode both Winger and Cassia. Winger worked on his transitions and his aides. We are really trying to keep things consistent with him as I believe quite a few people have ridden him and they might not have been working under a coach and therefore they probably weren’t always as consistent as they should have been. We are really trying to get a good base with his trot and canter commands before we ask for any fences. Also he had to get use to ring today as he hasn’t never ridden in it until today.

Also tommorow before any in the saddle training we will work on lunging and he was not very responsive to lungeing today. And he shouldhave a really good basic understanding of lungeing before moving on. Lungeing on is on our list for all of next week.

With Cassia everything went well. We worked on just basicaly getting used to the ring and just getting shape and bending. Cassia and I will be attending a lesson next week to work towards getting  my instructors.

It was a busy night last night as I was bringing Winger in quite late. I did get a chance to work on some Showmanship with Fuzz and she was pretty good. We will be doing Showmanship one day a week for the next month. I als had a chance to take her on a trail ride it was quite eventful  as that was he second trail ride. As some one once told me when you train a horse, you must train it so that anyone can ride it. And since that was Fuzz is working on, I thought why not.

Today it was pouring rain, so hard the horses had to stay in and since I do not have an indoor I was forced to not ride. Winger is starting to settle in and if it stops pouring I am going to jump on him tonight. Fuzz will be getting a day off and Cassia will be ridden tommorow.
